i really like the verge, a new tech site developed by joshua topolsky and friends. my one complain is the home page is a bit too busy for my taste, but i enjoy the content and the forums. i really liked this article written by joseph flatley about homes built in missile bunkers. after looking around for a while, i find i enjoy that type of content, content that isn’t explicitly technology related, but appeals to my nerd sensibilities (there’s another good one written by thomas ricker about jetpacks). i think i’m a bit burned out on technology, and the verge’s front page is a good summation of why. there’s so much to take in at any given point. i enjoy that interesting things are being created and released all the time, but many of them are in the same class of devices or are iterations of what came before. i haven’t really gotten excited about anything i’ve read about recently (full disclosure: i had a brief crush on siri). but i’m drawn to innovation and enjoy state of the field technologies, so i keep going back. fortunately, the verge makes it easy to justify doing so by presenting well-written, visually satisfying articles that go beyond phones and specs.
