i decided to do mini-reviews of movies rated 73 or higher on metacritic; movies on rotten tomatoes’ top 100 list; and movies on io9’s top 50 scariest of all time list. i had to omit several of the films i’ve seen because i couldn’t remember them well enough (e.g., ‘tremors,’ ‘the fly’). i admit that nostalgia played some part in my decisions (e.g., ‘little shop of horrors,’ ‘candyman’), but i did the best i could to keep that to a minimum.
